Kerala is a state with full literacy, Higher Health care and lower mortality ratio. In Kerala you experience freshness and touches of mother earth every where. No wonder Keralites (Malayalees) call their State "God's Own Country”. Official Language of the state is Malayalam. Hence they are known as Malayalees. Over Three (3) Millions of Malayalees are migrated outside Kerala in search of better career and Business Opportunities.
World Malayalee Council Inc (WMC) is a non-profit making charitable organization that was formed in 1995 by holding the first ever World Convention of Non Resident Malayalees. With the registered Head Quarter in New Jersey, U S A, it has spread its wings to all the continents namely Africa, America, Europe, Far East & Australia, India and Middle East.
WMC provides meeting/networking platform for interested Malayalees all over the World to open up new possibilities for their economic, political, social growth and the empowerment of the Diaspora community [Pravasees] by addressing issues of the Pravasees and their children in the countries of their adoption
WMC has three (3) Tier Organisational structure namely Global, Regional and Provincial Councils consisting of Officers for Cabinet, Executive and General Councils.
The main objective of this organization is to provide a non-political forum to bring together the widely scattered community of people of Malayalee/Kerala origin and strengthen the common bonds of culture, tradition and way of life. The charter of the organization recognizes the revolutionary transformation-taking place at global levels as a result of quantum leaps in technology. WMC works towards an international brotherhood of Malayalees/people of Kerala origin to bolster their cultural, artistic and social uniqueness and give resilience and understanding towards other cultures with which they have to co-exist and interact.
To translate these avowed goals, WMC has constituted world wide Regional and Provincial Councils with eminent Malayalees who have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally. At different organizational levels suitable and committed persons, as volunteers, with vision and integrity are elected. WMC is responsive to the needs of the diverse multi racial geographical milieu in which Malayalees move about.
WMC with the global network provide opportunities and capabilities for people of all age group to provide leadership and service to the community they live in and to the motherland Kerala/India. WMC gives special emphasis to the development of the new generation of expatriate Malayalees who feel cultural and social alienation in their adopted country.
To provide a meeting point for interested Keralites all over the World to open up new possibilities of their mutual growth and better understanding, by exploring their inherited rich culture and values.
To facilitate a dynamic link between the Malayalee experience, expertise, and entrepreneurship, in the developing and developed countries, for the invigoration of the Malayalee Community at large, and the Kerala State in particular.
To point out and recognize Malayalee talents, skills, and intelligence on a global level that they may be mobilized for the enhancement of professional development, career development, and technological break-through.
To organize an international network of Keralites of different age groups to constantly communicate, share, and update their knowledge base.
To create a cultural awakening in the Malayalee Diaspora, scattered worldwide, and to instill in them the openness of culling out the cream of all cultures, paving the way of a World harmony.
World Malayalee council is joined with Kidney Federation of India and co operate with its various activities. Kidney Federation of India, Nefrology Association of India, SORT and World Malayali Council celebrate World Kidney Day on 10 March 2011.
